what is discipleship?

So... what do you think discipleship is?

  1. Discipleship be the pouring out of your life into another person or more. You develop a relationship with that person and you find ways to help build them up and become better tools for Christ. In doing so you and them become closer and wiser and end up sharpening one another in the faith.

  2. A process, lived out in community with one another. Faith is seen and taught, lessons are fleshed out, and the experience takes place daily with a disciple and rabbi. Jesus is the example as well as the one who is doing the leading. Therefore if I am the one doing the discipling I must take the attitude like Paul...imitate me as I imitate Christ. The most important aspect of disicpleship is one on one, face to face contact. -Jason Allen Burton

  3. To use Scripture as our guide with both the examples of Jesus and Paul... discipleship is constant fellowship, accountability, encouragement, reproving, loving, studying, and living with the body of Christ... always acknowledging and behaving in submission to each other and to Christ. The Sunday/Wednesday approach simply doesn't fit scripture's model at all. (Colossians 3) -Bryant Lovette

  4. Simply put...to love our Lord and our neighbor. -Michael Keith
I would add, "together with other believers"
